I've been diagnosed with
diabetes. It's a condition when the blood sugar level in our body is above the normal level. This is caused by the body not producing enough, or improperly responding to, insulin. If not treated, it could cause damages to other organs of the body. For more information, about diabetes, please click

To check my blood sugar level, I've to go to a laboratory to have it checked. A blood sample is extracted and tested. The result normally becomes available in the afternoon or the next morning.
Now, I have a portable blood sugar meter. With it, I could check my blood sugar level anytime I wish. It was given to my by my sister-in-law. Her husband, who used it, has expired already and it's just lying around collecting dusts. The meter is still in good order condition and functional. I just bought the batteries (2 triple A's), the lancets, and the electrodes.
Yesterday, I studied how to use it and actually tried it. Ohm y gosh, my sugar level is still above normal at 144 ml/l. The normal range is 70 - 105 ml/l.
For every test, however, it would cost me about P44.00. The lancet is P5.00 a piece, while the electrode is P39.00 a piece.
