My car’s number coding day is Wednesday.  Yes, it’s today.  It’s after office hours; and, I can’t leave yet until 7:00 PM.

Number coding or the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) is being implemented within Metro Manila from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM and from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  In other parts of Metro Manila, like Makati City, the number coding is from 7:00 AM up to 7:00 PM. Some towns are implementing the Number Coding scheme.

It aims to improve the traffic condition in the metropolis by reducing the volume of vehicles plying the metro streets. It bans a vehicle from plying the metro streets once a week.  The basis of prohibition is the car’s last digit of its plate number.

The number coding is not in effect during Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays.
